How can one add a personal touch to a classic pizza?

And one that has been bought ready made to boot.

Consider a simple pizza something like pizza Margheritta, Neapolitan or Four Seasons. We can easily improve them, add a personal touch and make diners forget about the rady made part.

Imagine 4 simple pizzas, ready made, fresh or frozen. Get 4 slices of Parma ham, some mascarpone cheese and a few basil leaves, fresh.

Bake the pizzas as per package instructions, or about 10 minutes for fresh pizza, 20 minutes for frozen pizzas at 375ยบ F.

While the pizzas cook, cut the Parma ham into strips.

When the pizzas are ready, get them out of the oven and  distribute the Parma ham and basil leaves on top. Return them to the oven for 2-3 minutes more.

Get them out of the oven, again, and put them onto the plates. Garnish with 1 tablespoon mascarpone cheese each.

Easy and very rewarding!

There are other possible ingredients: salami, cooked sausage, cooked ham, sliced mushrooms, grilled vegetables, oregano, basil, and you can think of many more.

Just a note.

Individual pizzas should be about 8 inches diameter, 9 inches at most. A large oven should be able to cop with four of them. If the oven is small, it will surely will have two shelves and you will be able to cook two pizzas. So cook the pizzas in two batches of two, and serve half a pizza to each person.

If baking in two heights, pizzas will bake better if you switch top and bottom about half the cooking time.

And if you only have one baking sheet, improvise a second one with foil.
