Horseradish sauces


The Jewish version of horseradish sauce is known as chrain, and it is made with vinegar, not lemon juice, and it comes in two colors: white or red. The red chrain incorporates grated fresh beets to the original recipe.

Adding some natural yogurt to chrain makes a milder version, more to the taste of Western cuisines.

The German horseradish sauce is made with grated horseradish and lemon juice. The English like it milder and they usually add cream.
